I started from Inari, Finland. That’s where I lived, 300km north of the Arctic Circle. From there I’ll head southwest through Norway and Sweden to mainland Europe. Somewhere around Italy I will turn east and eventually journey across Asia into Australia. Then South America, USA and Canada.
At least that’s the general idea. Of course the actual route may end up looking very different. There’s no point in getting attached to a specific plan. It’s much better to just go along and see what happens.
But the whole journey will require at least 50,000 kilometers in 50 countries. And there will be approximately 200 national parks and 50 UNESCO World Heritage Nature sites along the way. I’m going to see some pretty amazing places during these five years.
