I'm a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for me to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Here's how it works: If I use a product and end up liking it enough to recommend to other people, I may write a gear review article on it. At the end of the article is a link to a store that sells the product. That link has a special code that makes it an affiliate link. If a person buys that (or any other) product through the link, I get paid a small commission (typically 4-7%). The buyer still pays the regular price. There's absolutely no change in cost due to an affiliate link.
All gear review articles are honest and only written if I can genuinely endorse whatever I write about. I don't post links to online stores on my website unless my actual experience with the item has been a positive one.
I collect these emails via MailChimp, and neither I nor they will ever share your address with any third parties for marketing or data mining purposes.
